Healthcare Ohana Monterey

The Ohana Center project in Monterey, CA, is a remarkable example of architectural innovation and commitment to mental healthcare. This groundbreaking project faced numerous challenges, from the unique serpent-like design to the integration of advanced HVAC systems.

One of the standout achievements of the Ohana Center is that it received the prestigious Silicon Valley Business Joumal Structures award, recognizing its exceptional contribution to the field of healthcare architecture.

The construction of the Ohana Center was not without its difficulties. The unconventional architectural concept posed challenges in construction execution. The absence of straight walls and the serpent-like shape of the building required advanced techniques and collaboration with skilled craftsmen to achieve precise curves and angles.

The Ohana Center incorporated an advanced Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) HVAC systern, allowing for zoning capabilities and maximizing energy efficiency. The seamless integration of this cutting-edge HVAC system required meticulous planning and collaboration with mechanical contractors and HVAC specialists.

Despite these challenges, the Ohana Center stands as a testament to the industry’s innovative spirit and its commitment to creating spaces that foster healing, inclusivity, and environmental consciousness. It serves as a model for other communities, inspiring them to reimagine mental healthcare and prioritize the well-being of children and teens.

ATS is proud to have been a part of this remarkable project, contributing our expertise in HVAC and mechanical systems to help bring the Ohana Center to life
